Aulonocara nyassae is normally found in rocky sections of the lake, near open, sandy flats. Its diet consists largely of sand-dwelling crustaceans. In the aquarium it should be given enough rckwork to give the fish cover and a feeling of security, but also enough open space for them to exhibit their natural behaviors. A large tank (90 gallons or more) aquascaped with half rockwork and half open sand is ideal. |
