The freshwater Angelfish is one of the most popular aquarium fish. Its native habitat is swamps or flooded forest where the vegetation is dense. A successful aquarium should include driftwood, to keep the water slightly acidic, and plenty of plants. Angels will greedily devour brine shrimp, blackworms, tubifex worms, whiteworms, or daphnia. Fry will readily accept newly hatched brine shrimp or finely ground flake food. For breeding, a varied diet and very soft (preferably reverse osmosis) water and a varied diet are required. |
